TRAVEL PAY
A career as a Union Roofer does mean as an employee accepting the fact that we will be covering some miles driving to jobsites. During a career in commercial roofing you will do many different jobs in different locations. Finish one job and off to the next.
To help member with the cost of driving we have what is called Travel Expense. Members receive their travel expense at the end of every week as part of their paycheck. This is a written agreement we have with our signatory contractors.
SECTION 2 | TRAVEL EXPENSE
ARTICLE XVI
The first 36 miles from Contactor’s main shop to and from job would be free: out-of-town Contractor’s point would be the Union Hall. Travel expense for all jobs will be figured out from mapquest shortest distance. After 36 mile free zone, employee will be paid $5.00 plus $0.65 per mile one way, plus (1) hour show up time if not notified within 2 hours before starting time. The employee driver needs to substantiate the business use of the vehicle. All jobs under 75 miles, travel pay will be paid on the pay period of the week worked. ( Not more than 1 week to be held)

LIVING EXPENSE
For jobs that might require a member to stay over night or for a length of time in a motel is what the Living expense was created for. Even though these jobs don’t come around that often this is an agreement that we have with our signatory contractors.
SECTION 2 | LODGING PLUS MEALS AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES PER DIEM
ARTICLE XVI
All jobs over 75 miles, employees are to be paid $60.00 per-diem per day in advance, plus the travel expense of $5.00 plus $0.65 per mile. ( $5.00 plus $0.65 per mile is to be paid at the beginning of the job, and at the end of the job, UNLESS, the job is shut down, then the employee’s will be paid mileage to go home and milage to go back to the job). Per diem will be paid for seven (7) days at $420.00. When driving from one out-of-town job to another, the employee shall be paid $0.53 per mile.
Jobs over 75 miles that are to be paid full expense (7 day per diem at $420.00 a week )Monday through Saturday will be the work week. If work is available for Saturday and you choose not to work the Saturday, you will not receive per diem or travel pay for Saturday or Sunday.
